Men CHAT Too: Creating Space for Healing, Identity and Belonging

Enfield

Across the UK, conversations about boys, young men and identity are becoming more visible. From documentaries to national debates, there is growing awareness that many young men are navigating complex pressures — searching for belonging, guidance and safe spaces to make sense of their experiences.

Programmes like Louis Theroux Interviews have helped bring these realities into public view, particularly in exploring adolescence and the influence of online spaces on young male identity.

But for many communities, this is not new.

Those working closely with men, boys and families — including grassroots organisations in Enfield — have long recognised a deeper truth:

too many men are carrying unresolved experiences from adolescence into adulthood, without the support needed to process them.

A Community-Led Response

LocalMotion Enfield is proud to support Men CHAT Too (Accredited) — a culturally grounded counselling and healing programme created by Courtney Brown through Father2Father, in partnership with BlackMen4Change and Nexus.

Men CHAT Too is designed specifically for Black and Global Majority men. It creates a space where participants can:

  • Reflect on their experiences
  • Build emotional literacy
  • Heal from past trauma
  • Strengthen their roles as fathers, mentors and community leaders

This is not just a course — it is a space for connection, growth and transformation rooted in cultural understanding.

Why This Work Matters

Across policy areas — from NHS mental health strategies to violence reduction and family support — the same message continues to emerge:

Early intervention with men matters.

When men do not have safe, culturally competent spaces to process what they carry, the impact can ripple outward:

  • Relationships can suffer
  • Parenting can become more challenging
  • Emotional wellbeing can decline
  • Communities can feel the effects

Too often, interventions come late — focusing on crisis rather than prevention.

Men CHAT Too offers something different:

a proactive, preventative approach that meets men where they are, before issues escalate.

Moving Beyond Conversation to Action

While public discussion is growing, practical, culturally grounded solutions remain limited.

Men CHAT Too represents a shift — from talking about the problem to building real responses within communities.

Because the impact is wider than the individual:

  • More mentors means more fathers supporting fathers
  • More healed men means more stable homes
  • More role models means better outcomes for young people

This is about strengthening the fabric of our communities — one conversation, one relationship, one space at a time.

Building Something That Lasts

This initiative reflects a broader vision shared by LocalMotion Enfield and its partners:

  • Community-led solutions
  • Culturally competent support
  • Long-term investment in people and relationships

The work may not always be loud — but it is intentional.

Quietly building.
Steadily learning.
Intentionally responding.
