Our network
LocalMotion began in response to a simple truth: communities have been asked to do more with less, while carrying the weight of systems that weren’t designed with them in mind.
Our network connects people who often work in isolation: local residents, grassroots groups, public bodies, and funders—so they can collaborate, learn together, and drive change on their own terms.
We exist to deepen relationships, disrupt old patterns, and make it easier for communities to shape the decisions that matter.
LocalMotion works in six places— Torbay, Oldham, Middlesbrough, Lincoln, Enfield and Carmarthen —where communities are building on local strengths, imagining new futures and leading change that lasts.
How can we create a people based movement that will work with the urgencies and complexities we find ourselves in?
Everything we do begins with listening — deeply and intentionally. We believe the people closest to the challenges are also closest to the solutions.
We are wanting to tell a story of Lincoln, delving deep into who we are, what we want and what we need.
Through LocalMotion Middlesbrough, we are building practical, community powered ways for residents to shape what happens here, through collaboration.
We’re not here just to talk, to share our voice, but to act. Together we are taking positive action, to tackle social and economic injustice, to change the systems around us.
We want to create a connected Torbay; enabling citizens and professionals to work together as equals to solve deep rooted systemic issues, in a way that develops voice, capability and agency for all involved.
We are developing a forward-looking learning approach where learning is actionable, a core part of the work and is inclusive. An approach that supports experimentation and iteration and provides insights on what is changing because of the work and what needs to change as a result of what we are learning.
